Teamwork

UBC Concrete Canoe is an engineering student team that designs, builds, and races a reinforced concrete canoe.

Each year students design and build a canoe made out of concrete from scratch.

The team competes in the annual Canadian National Concrete Canoe Competition (CNCCC) hosted by the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, as well as the Concrete Canoe Competition hosted by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

We design an innovative concrete mix using advanced materials, and canoe hull that’s both lightweight and durable.

Students work in the lab to test out designs and build the final canoe.

We bring the canoe to events across North America to compete against other University teams from across Canada and the United States.
